John Concannon from JFC Manufacturing and The Secret Millionaire spoke to the Friendly Businesses and also the JCI members about some of his experiences in running a successful friendly business and said "In business it is so important to set goals and then to always to strive to accomplish your goals".

When John was asked to give young business people some advice about running their businesses, he said: "Now is the time to focus on your business, if you can make money in these times, when the upturn comes your business will fly"

The JCI Friendly Business Awards recognise the important role that local industry plays in the continuous development and improvement of our country. The project aims to award friendly businesses, ones that go that extra mile and provide outstanding customer service for their customers and their community. It is particularly important in this economic environment to highlight businesses that don't allow their standards to slip and continue to provide quality services.

JCI Ireland National President Louise Walsh thanked all the JCI branches from around the country for running the Friendly Business competition this year and told the members: "it is projects like this that help in making Ireland a more competitive country that produces a better product and this will make Ireland a better place to do business".

The competition was judged on the following criteria. 1. Customer Care / Friendliness 2. Eco Friendliness 3. Shop Layout & Design 4. Disability Access 5. The Friendly X factor. These five categories are the key contributors to the makeup of a business which has its customer as its number one priority.
